Zingerplus
Zingerplus, thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity, represents an effective remedy for inflammation and oxidative stress. Its use is particularly beneficial in cases of inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and rheumatoid arthritis.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
The active part of ginger is the rhizome, rich in a wide variety of bioactive compounds that can be grouped into three main categories: volatile oils, gingerols, and diarylheptanoids. The phyto-complex of ginger has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, prompting research to evaluate its application in chronic inflammatory diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and rheumatoid arthritis. The antioxidant activity of ginger has been demonstrated in vivo, showing a significant reduction in lipid peroxidation processes and promoting the activity of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT), as well as antioxidant molecules like glutathione (GSH). Gingerols and shogaols (molecules derived from gingerols through heat treatment or prolonged storage) and other phenolic compounds exert their anti-inflammatory activity by acting on the biosynthesis of major pro-inflammatory chemical mediators, such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes, by suppressing 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) and the inducible form of cyclooxygenase (COX-2), as well as inhibiting the synthesis of pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-1β, TNF-α, and IL-8.
