SANCTOMOOD
Sanctomood is an excellent remedy for combating stress and its related issues, thanks to its adaptogenic properties that help regulate mood and protect against oxidative damage.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Holy basil has a long-standing tradition in the folk medicine of Eastern cultures. In Ayurveda, for instance, O. sanctumhas always been valued for its adaptogenic and anti-stress effects. The mechanisms behind these effects are attributed to its neuroprotective, immunostimulant, and antioxidant properties, as well as its ability to induce non-specific resistance to stress and lower plasma cortisol levels. The main compounds responsible for these effects include ursolic acid, eugenol, and β-caryophyllene, which, due to their lipophilic nature, can penetrate the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and exert their influence directly in the brain, providing anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects.
Regarding its adaptogenic and anti-stress action, O. sanctum has been shown to alleviate common stress symptoms such as fatigue, tension, irritability, apathy, sleep disturbances, emotional instability, and concentration issues. Additionally, the efficacy of this phyto-complex has been studied in relation to generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) within a clinical hospital setting, revealing that O. sanctum significantly reduces GAD symptoms while also alleviating associated stress and depression.
