FLAVINCANUS
Flavincanus is indicated for generalized inflammatory states and to combat oxidative stress. It is also effective for inflammatory issues in the urological sphere.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
The anti-inflammatory effects of Cistus are largely due to its high concentration of flavonoids. Compounds such as quercetin and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) are known to inhibit the activity of inflammasomes—protein complexes that trigger inflammatory responses—thereby protecting cells from inflammatory damage. The presence of specific flavonoids, particularly oligomeric proanthocyanidins type B (PAC-B), further enhances this effect by inhibiting pro-inflammatory mediators and blocking the inducible form of cyclooxygenase (COX2). In the case of urological conditions, especially prostatic inflammation, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of bioflavonoids, particularly quercetin, have been shown to alleviate related symptoms. EGCG also plays a key role in mitigating inflammation by inhibiting factors and enzymes like NF-kB and COX2, which drive inflammatory processes. Additionally, catechins, along with the entire polyphenolic fraction of Cistus, protect cells from damage linked to chronic inflammation, which is closely tied to oxidative stress.
